Child Care Safety Plan

Harmony Law is one of the Co-Founders of the California Childcare Safety Plan Coalition.  And has been hard at work at ensuring EVERY PARENT has access to this FREE TOOLKIT.

At Harmony Law our top priority is preparedness and ensuring that you are ready for all potential situations that can come your way.

The Child Care Safety Plan is a letter from the Parent to the World in which you can appoint a caregiver in case of a potential deportation or arrest. The Child Care Safety Plan is a confidential document that is kept by the parents of the child.

Why is this important?

There are several reasons why the Child Care Safety Plan is important:

  • Avoid foster care

  • Dignity and full inclusion of children

  • Facilitate family conversation

  • Facilitate smooth transition of care

  • Avoid guardianships

More information regarding the Child Care Safety Plan:

With a Childcare Safety Plan (CSP), you can prepare for the unexpected and protect your family’s future.

Peace of Mind for Parents.
A CSP is a temporary childcare custody plan that outlines who will care for your children if you are suddenly unavailable. You decide who steps in, ensuring your kids are looked after by someone you trust.

Why It Matters.
Life can change in an instant—whether due to military deployment, illness, incarceration, deportation, or emergency. Having a plan in place makes sure your children are supported, no matter what.

You Keep Custody.
Completing this form does not sign away your parental rights or custody. It simply helps outline who you trust to care for your children if you are temporarily unavailable.

Free & Accessible.
The CSP is free to complete, and support is available at several sites throughout the Central Coast. Use the form on the right to request help, or click here to find a Family Resource Center near you where staff can guide you through the process.
